This discussion started on another strand in this tribe about Asian Fetishists.
I have to wonder about this issue of the Hypersexualization of race, in particular, Black males and Asian females, and the corresponding asexualization of Black females and Asian males.
I know that the dominant culture (aka White folks) frequently veiw POCs in terms of racial stereotypes (and us POCS sometimes slip into this paradigm, even about OURSELVES).
Anyone care to contest this? Confirm? Insights?

I can still remember when this white guy came up to me at a play party and said, "I always wanted to fuck a PUERTO RICAN boy!"
Heart was with me. She can tell you, that was a fucked up situation.
You know... if people knew Asian women like I know Asian women (as in, my mom, grandma, aunties, sisters...) they would know that SUBMISSIVE is NOT synonymous with Asian woman!

Sun, October 24, 2004 - 10:01 PMI have heard people, in particular, photographers, not want to deal with black women, stating that they are "masculine". I suspect that the fact is that these photographers either can't deal with the dark skin (which is actually rich in tone and makes a great study in shade and lighting) or they are just too narrow and brainwashed by the western standards of beauty.
Thank Allah that things are changing!
I will also note that I have heard a good number of white gay males talk about Asian men in terms of them being submissive and bottom. There's these ethnic slangterms for men of color.
eggroll= chinese
lumpia= filipino
burrito= latino (mexican or not)
sparerib= black
"what did you have last night?"
"I got me some SWEET eggroll boy at the club!"
ect.
I have also heard plenty of stereotyping of Asian men being effeminate. I have to wonder about that... -

Tue, November 2, 2004 - 1:18 AMAsian men? Effeminate? No way! Perhaps its because APA men have a tendency to be more sensitive and mindful... Maybe its because they tend to be less brutish than others (although I think Sensei with a sword is a bit of an exception :p )
I'm curious. What is the word out there about Asian men? Anyone care to say?

Sat, January 29, 2005 - 4:30 PMI would disagree that Black women are asexualized. In fact, one of the biggest Black female stereotypes (right up there with "Mammy"), is the insatiable, "animal-like", "freak".
One of my questions that I'm always dealing with on a personal level: how do you make your way in the world when you *are* that stereotype?
I used to put on a lot of sexual/political workshops, and one of my dream panels would be: me (the Black sexual Amazon), a submissive Asian, a "nympho" Latin@, and then I would always fall down on the Native sexual stereotype.
How do we, as enlightened POC, censure ourselves or others in the interest of "not living up to the stereotype"? How do we develop honest and sincere sexual identities when we know that as POCs we are continually objectified and eroticized in this racist country/world?

Thu, April 7, 2005 - 6:54 PMi feel ur pain and confusion, cuirdyke. i AM a spicey latina woman who can't get enough sex. i am also dominant but not all the time. there is a lot gray in my life and sometimes it troubles me, while other times i embrace it with all of my might! (see??)
